The first-year Wild center broke out of a five-game point skid with a terrific opening period against the Kings. Johansson opened the scoring with a long-range wrister three-and-a-half minutes into the game, then assisted on Kirill Kaprizov's goal later in the frame. Johansson had been off to a rough start with his new club, picking up just one assist in his first seven games, so perhaps this will be the performance that gets the 30-year-old going offensively.

Johansson has produced just one goal and six shots through the first five games this season.

The 30-year-old was dealt to Minnesota via Buffalo this offseason in an exchange of veteran centers, and he's off to a slow start in 2021. In his last three games, Johansson has gone pointless, logging just two shots and a block over that span. Points could be coming shortly for Johansson, though, as he's averaged 2:41 of power-play time thus far.

It was the first goal in a Minnesota uniform for Johansson, who was acquired for Eric Staal in an offseason trade with Buffalo. The Sabres traded Johansson to the Wild in exchange for Eric Staal on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

The 29-year-old Swede will likely slot into a top-six role while also seeing ample time on one of Minnesota's power-play units next campaign.
