The Hurricanes have signed Justin Soryal to a one-year contract.
It is a one-year, two-way deal that will pay the 24-year-old $525,000 if he plays in the NHL and only $80,000 if he does not. Soryal played in the AHL last season registered only six points in 79 games. However, he may have some fantasy value because of his 220 penalty minutes. If you need an enforcer, and Soryal makes the Canes out of camp, we can think of worse things to do than use a reserve roster spot for him.
