Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is also considered week-to-week with a lower-body injury after both goaltenders were injured in Tuesday's loss to the Lightning, so the Sabres are now down to Aaron Dell in terms of healthy goaltenders on their roster. Another update on Subban, who's gone 0-2-1 while posting a disastrous 4.86 GAA through four appearances this season, should surface once he's cleared to resume skating.

Buffalo actually finished with a 37-32 edge in shots, but Semyon Varlamov stood tall in New York's net, while Subban failed to do the same for the Sabres. He's 0-2-1 with a dreadful 4.56 GAA and .876 save percentage, so Subban's unlikely to see many starts for the Sabres outside of back-to-back situations unless his play picks up considerably.

The 27-year-old was the main reason the Sabres even got a point out of this one, as Subban was fantastic over the final part of regulation after the Pens had grabbed a 2-0 lead early in the second period before Jeff Carter was finally able to get another puck past him in OT. Subban has taken a back seat to rookie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen since joining Buffalo in early December largely due to a lower-body injury suffered in his first appearance for the club, but performances like this could earn him more playing time now that he's healthy.

Subban will be between the pipes Friday in Pittsburgh.
