Thompson stopped 33 shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Canadiens in Game 1 of their first-round series.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old netminder returned from an upper-body injury that had sidelined him since April 2 and blanked Montreal through the first two periods, only for the Habs to strike twice in the third to force OT. Thompson was still rewarded for his efforts when Alex Ovechkin potted the winner. A healthy Thompson will be crucial to the Capitals' chances of advancing after he posted a 31-6-6 record with a 2.49 GAA and a .910 save percentage during the regular season. He should be back between the pipes for Game 2 on Wednesday.

Thompson (upper body) will the patrol the home blue paint Monday versus the Canadiens in Game 1, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
EDGE Analysis
This will be Thompson's first start since April 2 -- he missed the last seven games of the regular season due to his upper-body injury. Prior to getting hurt, the 28-year-old had lost his last three outings, which followed a six-game winning streak. He's appeared in just four postseason contests in his career, owning a 2-2-0 record, .921 save percentage and 2.35 GAA.

Thompson (upper body) skated Thursday but isn't expected to dress versus the Penguins.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Spencer Carbery doesn't plan to give much in the way of injury updates during the playoffs, but he did say that Thompson will continue to practice and progress toward returning. In the meantime, Clay Stevenson is set to make his first NHL start in Pittsburgh. If Thompson isn't an option for Game 1 of Washington's first-round series against Montreal on Monday, then Charlie Lindgren will likely start in that clash.

Thompson (upper body) is expected to "miss a little bit of time," Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson is currently mired in a three-game losing streak during which he has posted a 5.58 GAA, .780 save percentage and 0-2-1 record. Since Thompson will be sidelined in the short term, the Caps recalled Hunter Shepard from the minors while Charlie Lindgren sees the bulk of the workload.

Thompson (upper body) is doubtful to return to Wednesday's game versus the Hurricanes.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson was tagged for three goals on 12 shots in the first period before exiting the contest. It's possible the Capitals are taking a cautious approach here since they entered Wednesday 11 points clear of every other team in the Eastern Conference. More information on Thompson's status should be known prior to Friday's game versus the Blackhawks. Charlie Lindgren took over in goal and will likely see a starter's workload should Thompson miss additional time.

Thompson is slated to guard the cage on the road against Carolina on Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson will be looking to rebound from his previous tilt in which he gave up seven goals on 22 shots (.682 save percentage) in a defeat to the Sabres. That disastrous outing notwithstanding, it's been a solid year for Thompson, as he has set new personal bests in wins (31) and GAA (2.43) -- though he continues to split the workload with Charlie Lindgren.

Thompson saved 15 of 22 shots on net in Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Sabres.
EDGE Analysis
Sunday's performance is one that Thompson will quickly want to put behind him ahead of the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the Sabres put the puck past him three times in both the second and third periods. With the loss, the 28-year-old netminder has a 31-5-6 record with a 2.43 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 42 appearances this season. Sunday's performance was only Thompson's second regulation loss in March. He remains a top option in all fantasy formats when he plays. As the Capitals move closer to locking up the top seed in the Eastern Conference, however, Thompson might see additional games of rest before the postseason. Because of this, it is best to have additional netminders in fantasy to deploy on Thompson's off days.

EDGE Analysis
Thompson had his five-game winning streak snapped in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Winnipeg. He has a 31-4-6 record with two shutouts, a 2.32 GAA and a .917 save percentage through 41 appearances this season. Buffalo is tied for 10th in the league with 3.17 goals per game and lost 7-4 to Philadelphia on Saturday.

Thompson stopped 22 of 25 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson saw the end of his six-game winning streak after Nikolaj Ehlers scored the game-winning goal in overtime, but despite the outcome of the contest, the 28-year-old netminder had another solid showing. Thompson has made eight appearances in March and has posted excellent numbers, going 6-1-1 with a 2.48 GAA and a solid .904 save percentage. Even though he was splitting time with Charlie Lindgren, it seems the Capitals are riding the hot hand for now, as Thompson has started in four of the team's last five contests.

Thompson will be between the pipes Tuesday in Winnipeg, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson is rolling of late with six straight wins and a 2.47 GAA and a .909 save percentage during that stretch. The 28-year-old has a tough road assignment Tuesday against a Winnipeg squad that has generated 3.45 goals per game this season, which ranks third in the NHL. Thompson conceded five goals in an overtime loss to the Jets on Feb. 1. He's 3-1-1 over six career appearances versus Winnipeg.
