Barch's agent, Scott Norton, spoke about the incident saying ""He hopes there is an understanding that there was no ill intent on his part. It was a misunderstanding. He wants his record to be clean when all this is over.'' For his part, P.K. Subban, whom the racial slur was allegedly directed towards, doesn't recall hearing anything. "Personally I didn't hear anything,'' Subban said after the game. "I don't even know what happened, really." NHL Senior Executive Vice President Colin Campbell is reportedly looking into the matter and will determine whether supplemental discipline is required.

Dallas has shipped Krys Barch and a sixth-round pick in the 2012 draft to Florida for Jake Hauswirth and a fifth-round selection in 2012. He should add some toughness to the Panthers when he draws into the lineup, but it's unclear at this time how the organization plans to utilize him.
