Newly-acquired Kris Versteeg will play on Chicago's third line alongside Andrew Shaw and Bryan Bickell. That should be a fun line to watch. All three players, at their best, are physical and have offensive ability. That said, Versteeg will have limited upside as he will likely not receive meaningful power-play time on a stacked Hawks' squad.

Kris Versteeg is thrilled to be back with the Chicago Blackhawks. "I'm really excited about it," Versteeg said. "I'm still young. I've got hopefully a lot of years ahead of me and hopefully (they're) as a Blackhawk, because it's where my heart is." Versteeg played for Toronto, Philadelphia, and Florida between stints with Chicago. He won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010, but the team needed to free up cap space at the time, so trading him made sense.

Kris Versteeg will play on the Chicago Blackhawks' third line in his first game back on Saturday. Chicago reacquired Versteeg from Florida on Thursday. He has some fantasy value if he can consistently get top-six minutes, but we wouldn't count on that with the Blackhawks.

The Chicago Blackhawks have re-acquired Kris Versteeg from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Jimmy Hayes and Dylan Olsen. Versteeg was a valuable member of the Blackhawks during their Cup winning run in 2010 but was dealt to Toronto during that off-season as Chicago faced severe cap issues for the next season. He was then dealt to Philadelphia from Toronto and made his way to Florida as the Flyers dealt him for a draft pick in the 2011 off-season. "We're really excited," Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said. "Looking at our team this year, we're off to a really good start. I think we've come out of the gates the way we wanted to, [but] we're always trying to improve. I think just the experience and versatility he brings to the table [are key], on top of the fact that he's a player our coaches know well and our players are familiar with. He has a lot of energy and competitiveness and he's got great skill level to complement our players, so we think it's a great fit." Look for Versteeg to see third line duty the rest of the way in Chicago.

Kris Versteeg got back into Florida's lineup on Tuesday. He logged just over 16 minutes of ice time and earned four shots in Florida's 4-3 overtime loss to Edmonton. Versteeg was a healthy scratch for the first time in his NHL career on Saturday.

Kris Versteeg wants to return to Florida's lineup after being a healthy scratch on Saturday. "I know what's expected of myself," he said. "You just go out, and whatever line you're on or whatever space you're on, you just work. In the end, you're a team, and whatever the GM and the coaches decide is the best lineup, you've got to respect that and work your way back into a spot." It's unclear right now if he'll dress or sit again Tuesday night versus Edmonton. Versteeg has two goals and three assists in 13 games this season.

Kevin Dineen didn't sugarcoat any words when asked why Kris Versteeg was a healthy scratch Saturday night against Washington. "That's indicative of his [Versteeg's] play the last week," Dineen said. "Steeger's looked really frustrated over the last three games and in all honesty he hasn't played well." Yikes! For his part, Versteeg is handled the benching as best as he could. "This is the first time going through this", said Versteeg. "It's not pleasant. I want to help the guys, and I've played for some pretty good teams. It's up to the coaches who they want to put on the ice." The Panthers next play on Tuesday against Edmonton and will be interesting to see if Versteeg gets back into the lineuo.

Kris Versteeg was a healthy scratch for the Panthers on Saturday night. More than anything, Versteeg, who has two goals and five points with a minus-seven rating is being made an example of on a struggling team. "I hope the guys rally around that," Versteeg said. This will probably just be a one-game thing for the 27-year-old veteran.

Kris Versteeg registered his second goal of the season in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Bruins. Versteeg has struggled early on with only four points in eight contests, but he has little competition for premium ice time on the roster and should bounce back as the season wears on. Jesse Winchester also found the back of the net for Florida in the loss.

Kris Versteeg fired four of the Florida Panthers' measly 20 shots on goal in a 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. Versteeg had a -2 rating, so it wasn't a perfect day (but not as bad as Scott Gomez's -3). Versteeg isn't up to a red-hot start, but he returned to action from an injury earlier than expected so he might be a guy to look at later this season, at least if he can stay healthy.
