Alzner (upper body) was on the ice for Tuesday's pre-game skate, Chuck Gormley of CSN Washingtonreports.
EDGE Analysis
Alzner suffered the injury during Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to Winnipeg and his availability for Tuesday's match was in question in the last few days, but it looks like the shutdown defenseman will continue his ironman streak, which now stands at 401 consecutive games played.

Alzner (upper body) will have to wait until Tuesday morning to determine whether he or not he will play Tuesday night's game against Detroit, Isabelle Khurshudyan of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Contrary to initial reports from Monday morning, Alzner is dealing with an upper-body injury. The former fifth-overall pick is extremely durable, so one would have to think that Alzner will be on the ice if the decision is up to him.

Alzner is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, Chuck Gormely of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Alzner enters Tuesday having played in 401 straight games, but that could be in danger with the news that he's day-to-day. Fortunately, the blueliner has another day of rest before playing, and the team should provide an update on his status at some point before the contest.

Alzner assisted on T.J. Oshie's game-winning goal in Thursday's 3-2 over Montreal.
EDGE Analysis
Though not much of an offensive force, The fifth overall pick in the 2007 Draft is on pace for a career year as he already has two goals and eight points in 24 games this season. Even with the potential for a banner year, Alzner's fantasy value remains extremely limited.

Alzner recorded an assist in Friday's 2-1 win over Columbus.
EDGE Analysis
After going without a point in his first seven games, Alzner now has two assists in the last two contests. Relied on more for his defensive prowess, the former fifth-overall pick from the 2007 Draft is unlikely to generate enough offense to keep him fantasy relevant outside of very deep leagues.

Alzner scored an empty net goal during Washington's 3-1 win over the Islanders on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Never known as an offensive force, the empty net goal is a nice bonus for the steady defenseman as he looks build on last season's career-high 21-point campaign. While the former 5th overall pick from the 2007 Draft is locked in as one of Washington's top-four defensemen, the inconsistent nature of his offensive production limits his fantasy upside to deeper leagues.

Alzner tallied his first point of the second-round series against the Rangers in Sunday's Game 6 loss, assisting on Evgeny Kuznetsov's third-period goal. Alzner recorded a career-best 21 points in the regular season, but that modest total doesn't exactly put many offensive expectations on him during the playoffs. The 26-year-old is capable two-way player every roster needs, though he's unlikely to provide any sort of high-end fantasy production.

Alzner scored a goal and contributed an assist Thursday in a Game 5 victory over the Isles. A super-rare multi-point effort from Alzner, who had just two other two-point games all season long. But he's now found twine twice in this series' five games and has got a plus-2 rating over that span, so Alzner's been surprisingly productive for fantasy owners.

Alzner scored his first goal since Feb. 1 and assisted on Matt Niskanen's overtime winner Thursday against the Devils. Well, he's now over 20 points for the first time in his career, but Alzner's never going to be mistaken for an offensive wunderkind. But hey, it's development. And at plus-15, he's now sitting on the best rating of his career.
