Schultz registered just 27 points this season, after putting up 51 last year.

EDGE Analysis

While Schultz did play in 15 fewer games, that won't account for putting up almost half as many points. The indicator for fantasy owners should be that 2016-17 was an anomaly and the blueliner will likely land in the 20-30 range as he has for most of his career, heading into the 2018-19 campaign. Despite the decreased productivity, the 27-year-old should continue to slot in on the power play (2:17 per game) and could even spend some time on the top unit with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel -- as he did for portions of this season and playoffs.

Schultz notched two assists, one on the power play, in Thursday's 5-4 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

The 27-year-old now has six points, all helpers, in his last six games, but his four goals and 26 points in 62 games on the season is barely above half of his 2016-17 production, and Schultz's 3.7 percent shooting is a career low.

Schultz tallied three assists in a 5-4 overtime win against the Flyers on Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

After breaking out with 51 points last season, Schultz has struggled this year. In fact, he was scoreless in seven games prior to this outburst. However, even with this three-point day the 27-year-old only has 23 points in 57 games, and only four of those are goals.

Schultz is pointless in his previous seven outings.

EDGE Analysis

After racking up 51 points last season, expectations were high that Schultz could have another strong offensive campaign. Unfortunately for fantasy owners that bought in on the hype, the defenseman has been limited to just 56 games due to various injuries and has managed a mere 20 points on the year. Despite the slump, the British Columbia native continues to see power-play minutes (2:09), in which he has notched a paltry seven helpers. The Pens don't have a lot of better options for blue line scoring -- outside of Kris Letang -- so it's unlikely coach Mike Sullivan will pull Schultz from the power play any time soon.

Schultz (illness) practiced Tuesday and is slated to play in Friday's road game against the Hurricanes, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

EDGE Analysis

As noted in the report, Schultz's return will allow head coach Mike Sullivan to more evenly distribute the minutes among his blueliners. The B.C. native posted a career-high 51 points (12 goals, 39 assists) through 78 games with the Penguins last season, but he's seen a slight reduction in power-play ice time this year. Moreover, the 27-year-old's shooting percentage has come back down to earth (4.3 percent) after he put a 7.8 value on the season ledger in 2016-17. Still, he remains a viable option in deep leagues, particularly those that give bonuses for blocked shots.

Schultz (illness) will not suit up for Sunday's game in Columbus, Jonathan Bombulie of TribLive.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Schultz also missed the Saturday victory over the Maple Leafs. Fortunately for him, Pittsburgh next game isn't until Friday, which should be plenty of time for him to get healthy. The 27-year-old blueliner is in the midst of a disappointing season with just 17 points after last year's 51-point output.

Schultz is under the weather and will miss Saturday's tilt versus Toronto.

EDGE Analysis

That's good news for fantasy owners, who may have been fearing the worst when Schultz was a last minutes scratch against the Leafs. Whether the defenseman is ready in time to face Columbus on Sunday remains to be seen, but fortunately it appears it won't be a long-term absence.

Schultz was a late scratch from the Penguins' lineup against the Maple Leafs on Saturday due to an undisclosed ailment, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

EDGE Analysis

Schultz didn't appear to miss any time versus the Kings on Tuesday, so it's unclear when he may have picked up an injury -- although given the time of year, he could also be dealing with an illness. Until the team announces more details regarding the nature of whatever is bothering the defenseman, there is no way to know if he will be available to play Columbus on Sunday.

Schultz notched two assists and four blocked shot through 19:32 of ice time during Tuesday's 6-3 win over Ottawa.

EDGE Analysis

This was Schultz's first multi-point showing since returning from a lower-body injury Jan. 2, and he recorded just a single goal and four assists during the underwhelming stretch. The 27-year-old defenseman has collected just three tallies and 14 helpers through 41 contests this season, which has him off the fantasy grid in the majority of settings. Additionally, with Kris Letang healthy and quarterbacking the No. 1 power-play unit, Schultz outlook isn't overly promising.

Schultz (undisclosed) is in the lineup for Saturday night's showdown in San Jose.

EDGE Analysis

The feeling around Schultz's injury was that it was never serious, and, indeed, he will not miss any game action as a result of it. The veteran blueliner will maintain his place on the second defensive pairing alongside Olli Maatta and will likely be looking to record a point in a third consecutive contest Saturday.
