Abdelkader (leg) will miss the next two preseason games despite practicing Saturday, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader is missing valuable preseason action. Granted, he's an NHL vet with a lineup spot in the bag, but the physical winger is coming off a horrible season that included a mere six goals and 13 assists over 71 games. It's safe to ignore him in most fantasy leagues, at least until he gets up to speed.

Abdelkader (leg) has been cleared to participate in Detroit's training camp, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader had a highly disappointing 2018-19 campaign, notching six goals and 19 points while posting an ugly minus-14 rating in 71 games. The 32-year-old vet will likely have to settle for a bottom-six role in 2019-20 and won't see much power-play action, so he can safely be ignored in most fantasy formats.

Abdelkader (leg) isn't in jeopardy of having his contract bought out, despite how the Red Wings have welcomed Steve Yzerman back to Detroit as the new general manager taking over for Ken Holland, Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hindsight is 20-20, but Holland probably regrets putting Abdelkader -- whose most recent campaign ended early due to a leg injury -- on the books for seven years, $29.75 million in Nov. 2015. However, as noted by St. James, he still has plenty of term remaining, and the Original Six club would still have to pay him $1.45 million over the next eight years in a buyout scenario. Abby produced only six goals and 13 assists to go with a minus-14 rating this season, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's left undrafted in most shallow leagues in the fall. However, the entire Red Wings team should get a boost with Stevie Y in the front office, so a bounce-back season can't be ruled out, either.

Abdelkader (leg) is out for the season due to a hairline fracture, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader finishes the year with six goals and 13 helpers over 71 games. Making matters worse, all but three of his points were ordinary 5-on-5 contributions, and he also went minus-14 as a byproduct of the Wings permitting a whopping 51 more goals than they've scored this season. The Michigan native has four more years remaining on a contract valued at $4.25 million annually.

Abdelkader (undisclosed) will not be on the ice for Tuesday's against the Rangers, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's the second game that Abdelkader will miss with the mysterious injury. The 32-year-old forward has had a disappointing season on the offensive end with just 19 points in 71 contests.

Abdelkader (undisclosed) will miss Saturday's game against the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
With Abdelkader out of commission, the Red Wings will unleash Prince University product Ryan Kuffner sooner than originally expected. It's been an awful campaign for the former, as Abdelkader only has six goals and 13 assists to go along with a minus-14 rating through 71 games.

Abdelkader picked up two assists in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Sharks.
EDGE Analysis
Incredibly, it's his first multi-point performance of the season, and it matched Abdelkader's entire offensive output through the first 21 games of 2019. The scoring slump has seen the veteran winger drop to the Wings' fourth line, but if he can continue to show a spark, he could work his way back up into a more fantasy-friendly role -- especially if the team deals away other pieces at the trade deadline.

Abdelkader (illness) will suit up against the Wild on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader was showing flu-like symptoms Thursday, but unlike goaltender Jimmy Howard, he was able to work past the bug ahead of Friday's contest. Look for Abdelkader to continue his heavy-hitting ways while turning in the occasional point down the stretch.

Abdelkader is dealing with flu-like symptoms, which calls into question his availability for Friday's game against the Wild.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader hasn't missed a game all season, but the Wings may be a bit queasy about the winger's lack of production relative to his lucrative contract valued at $4.25 million annually and not expiring until the 2022-23 campaign. The physical winger only has five goals and 10 assists through 61 games this season, so his official status might not matter to many owners.

Abdelkader has not recorded a single point in 2019.
EDGE Analysis
Abdelkader's pointless streak is at nine games, with the physical utility winger's ice-time total (11:05) from Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks being his second-lowest mark all season. With only five goals and eight helpers through 50 games, Abdelkader is costing this team $121,429 per point, according to CapFriendly.com. Suffice it to say, the Wings expected much more when they signed Abdelkader to a seven-year, $29.75 million deal in November of 2015.
