DAILY PRIME - NOVEMBER 24, 2013: MAD MAX IS BACK, THE FLYERS ARE FL... primepucks.com Sun 11/24/13 10:22 AM
Busy schedule in the NHL yesterday with 11 games. Lots of low scoring games, with only the St. Louis 6-1 and the Ottawa 4-2 wins really generating much in the way of scoring....Josh Harding stepped on a puck in warm-ups and he was unable to play so Niklas Backstrom replaced him. Not sure how long he will be out. He had clearly gained the starter's job in Minnesota so we will have to see how serious his injury is.....LA right wing Matt Frattin is also out with a LBI, and Anaheim backup goaltender Viktor Fasth will be out 3 to 4 weeks also with a LBI. Pittsburgh forward Beau Bennett is also out with an LBI....Detroit star forward Pavel Datsyuk got hit hard last night, taking an elbow from Ottawa D-man Jared Cowen on the chin, and it looks like he may have a concussion. More when we know it....The Bruins beat Carolina in a matinee game yesterday 3-2. Chad Johnson played well in goal in place of Tuukka Rask with 22 saves, but he is strictly a backup and has no fantasy value. Cam Ward did his best in goal for the Hurricanes with 35 saves, but Carolina is just not a good team this year. Ward has only 3 wins on the season. Boston defenseman Zdeno Chara had a PPG. Chara used to be considered an elite fantasy defenseman, but he is beginning to show his age, and he has only 8 points in 23 games played. Forward David Krejci scored the game winner for the Bruins in OT. With 17 points in 23 games played he is a waiver wire type player....as we noted above, Josh Harding was unable to play for the Wild in yesterday's 3-2 win over Winnipeg in a shootout so backup Niklas Backstrom got the start and the win with 37 saves. Backstrom may be a good play here on the short term because Harding's injury looked like a groin strain. Those types of injuries can keep a goalie out for a while....Minnesota forward Zach Parise had a goal and an assist. Parise has 22 points in 24 games, and we view him as a point per game player....James Reimer was outstanding in goal for Toronto with 49 saves in a 2-1 win over Washington. The issue with Reimer is that he platoons with Jonathan Bernier thereby greatly diminishing both of their fantasy values.
Mad Max beyond Thunderdome: Montreal forward Max Pacioretty has come back with a vengance. Pacioretty had 2 goals last night in Montreal's 3-2 win over Pittsburgh. Mad Max now has 5 goals in his last 3 games and he is really playing well. He is now up to 9 points in 15 games, but expect him to start heating it up....James Neal had 2 goals...

Goalie Start: Harding starts Saturday in Winnipeg. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 11/22/13 7:56 PM
Harding gave up three goals on 37 shots in a win over Ottawa on Wednesday. The win put him one behind Corey Crawford (14) for the NHL lead with 13. Harding has a good matchup against the Jets tomorrow afternoon.
Goalie Start: Harding starts for the Wild. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 11/20/13 7:56 PM
Harding was pulled after allowing three goals on 19 shots in a loss to the Canadiens last night. Coach Mike Yeo will allow him the opportunity to redeem himself tonight in his first career start vs. Ottawa. The way his season has gone it would be logical to expect him to be back on-top of his game tonight.
Goalie Start: Harding goes vs. Montreal. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 11/19/13 2:56 PM
Harding allowed one goal on 22 shots to record his fourth straight win and ninth in his last 10 starts. Basically, Harding is lights-out right now and appears impossible to beat. He carries a 1.25 GAA and .946 SV% into tonight's contest with the Habs.
Goalie Start: Harding goes for the Wild. dailyfaceoff.com Sun 11/17/13 2:56 PM
Harding gave up two goals on 24 shots in a win over the Panthers on Friday. It was his third consecutive win and his 11th of the season. He continues to play exceptionally well and has a solid matchup with the Jets in town.

ALL GOALIES CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT
In the lone Sunday Matinee game, Columbus visits the Ottawa Senators. Craig Anderson gets the start for the Se ns while Sergei Bobrovsky gets the nod for the Blue Jackets. Anderson is coming off an impressive 4-2 win over the Boston Bruins and seems to be shaking off the rust of his injury. Not good news for the Blue Jackets who have lost 3 in a row. Bobrovsky has won only 1 of his last 6 starts. Remove your Jackets....Jaroslav Halak will back in net for the St. Louis Blues as they head to the Capitol to take on the Washington Caps. Braden Holtby (LIKELY) will get the start as they had the night off yesterday whereas the Blues are coming off a very pedestrian 4-2 win over the Canes. The Caps have won 6 of 8 and 9 out of their last 13. The Blues meanwhile have won 8 of 10 and 9 of their last 13 as well. Capitals with a capital C on home-ice....Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers look to make it a 2-game season sweep of the Los Angeles Kings tonight at MSG. Ben Scrivens gets the call as Jonathan Quick is out for a few weeks. The Rangers are coming off a very hard-fought 1-0 victory against the Habs last night and may be off to a slow start against the Kings. Scrivens has been perfect since taking over 2 games ago and had a 2-0 shutout of New Jersey in his last start. My nod goes to the King and not the Kings in this one, but it won't be easy....Perhaps Corey Crawford (LIKELY) was saving it for tonight's tilt against the San Jose Sharks because he didn't fair to well in last night's game after he had to come in for the injured Khabibulin. The Sharks and Antti Niemi (LIKELY) are well-rested and should have the upper hand in this road game against a beaten up Blackhawks team.....Ondrej Pavelec (LIKELY) against Josh Harding (LIKELY). Winnipeg at Minnesota. Sunday night. Give me Harding...Re-hot Kari Lehtonen (LIKELY) and the Dallas Stars head north to Vancouver to take on Roberto Luongo and the Canucks. Luongo was a tough-luck loser in his last outing against the Sharks, not only losing the shutout with just over a minute to go, but then losing in OT. Lehtonen starts his 12th in a row but they will find it tough sledding in Vancouver. Luongo in this one.
FANTASY MUST STARTS
Craig Anderson, Ottawa vs. Columbus
Josh Harding, Minnesota vs. Winnipeg
SLEEPER ALERT
Braden Holtby, Washington vs. St. Louis

Harding still isn't 100% owned in most fantasy leagues so if he is still available, you need to scoop him up.
Goalie Start: Harding starts for the Wild. dailyfaceoff.com Fri 11/15/13 2:56 PM
Harding allowed one goal on 20 shots in a shootout win on Wednesday. It is unfortunate that a lot of owners probably did not have him in their lineup because he was not supposed to start. Harding was feeling under the weather so Niklas Backstrom got the nod, but ended up getting injured in the first. Harding has been spectacular and has a great matchup tonight, start him!
THE GOALIE EDGE: 11/15/2013 primepucks.com Fri 11/15/13 1:23 PM
The New Jersey Devils turn to Cory Schneider in net as they face a Kings team coming off a tough-earned 3-2 comeback victory the night before against the Isles on the road. This is a tough spot for Los Angeles, who will start feeling the loss of franchise goalie Jonathan Quick sooner than later. Ben Scrivens (LIKELY) gets the start again. The Devils have been red-hot, winning 3 of the last four games. Martin Brodeur has been the main beneficiary of the sudden winning streak, so look for Schneider to be plenty motivated in this one. We are hot for the Devs.... Will the Pittsburgh Penguins extend their losing streak to four tonight? Heck, no. The perfect remedy to such a losing streak is a date with a far more inept Nashville team and their over-matched backup to the backup goalie, Marek Mazanec. Marc-Andre Fleury wins easy for the Pens....Tim Thomas starts for the Florida Panthers but this is a revenge match for Josh Harding and company as the Wild lost to the Panthers their last time out. It won't happen again, as Harding will continue his masterful goaltending and further entrench himself as the Wild's No. 1 guy, ahead of the injured Niklas Backstrom....If you feel like "swinging for the fences", take the streaking Steve Mason and the suddenly dangerous Flyers on the road against Winnipeg. There could be a small letdown following their grueling victory at Pittsburgh, but Claude Giroux has been playing himself back into the conversation of elite NHL forwards. Take a chance on Mason.... Columbus, in the second of back-to-back games, will be facing a desperate Montreal club, who will be pumped for a win. Peter Budaj will be in goal for the Canadiens, but he has been razor sharp in spot duty. Bobrovsky played in last night's tilt against Boston so expect Curtis McElhinney (LIKELY) to get his 4th start of the season. Go Habs, go!....The Anaheim Ducks sent Frederik Andersen back to the AHL as Viktor Fasth (LIKELY) returns from the IR. Fasth will be thrown into action immediately against the Carolina Hurricanes especially after last night's embarrassing 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. With Justin Peters is in net for the Canes. Peters has won 3 of his last 4 all on home ice, so this could be another upset in the making. Actually, this one can go either way depending on which of the two teams decides to show up....Braden Holtby and the Washington Capitals look to gain some momentum from their win over Columbus but playing Detroit on the road is no ...
