Anderson has skated with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield a few times within the last week, but head coach Martin St. Louis doesn't appear to be settled on a linemate for his top forwards. Kirby Dach, who had a productive stretch on the top line earlier this season, picked up most of the third-period shifts with Suzuki and Caufield, but the coach may try others in the coming games.

He briefly looked like the Canadiens' hero when he scored with three minutes left in the third period, but the Canucks answered on a power play and won 13 seconds into overtime. The 28-year-old is far from consistent on offense, but he has a goal-dangerous shot. He's up to six goals, two assists, 51 shots on net, 47 hits, 23 PIM and a minus-2 rating through 23 contests.

Anderson netted a goal in Thursday's 6-4 win versus the Blue Jackets.

EDGE Analysis

It was Anderson's fifth goal and seventh point in 15 games this season. He had 19 goals and 32 points in 69 contests in 2021-22 while logging 17:44 of ice time. Going into Thursday's game, he was averaging just 14:17 this season, so it's impressive that he's been able to maintain a similar scoring pace despite his significant drop in playing time. Unless his role increases though, this is probably about as good as he can do.
