However, one bit of good news for Quick is that power forward Illya Kovalchuk (ankle) is ready to rock in the franchise's 4,000th regular-season game.

This is what Quick can do for you and the Kings: steal a game that his team has no business winning. The outcome of this game had more to do with the Wings playing well than Quick struggling. His first goal against took place on a Detroit odd-man rush, the second tally involved Frans Nielsen making good on his own rebound, and the final strike was caused by an egregious own-zone turnover from Kings defenseman Derek Forbort. Quick falls to 2-7-1 with this ill-fated loss, and we can't recommend him as anything more than a No. 2 fantasy option in season-long leagues since the Kings are the worst team in the Pacific Division by a long shot.

The Kings' keeper has posted solid numbers, though his record stands at 2-6-1 on the season. Part of the problem is the team in front of Quick, but the 32-year-old is also dealing with the rust associated with missing so much time with a knee injury earlier in the season. The American won his last start, making 30 saves in a victory over the Golden Knights. Monday will be Quick's first game versus the Red Wings this season.
