Goalie Start: Quick did not take part in the optional skate; usuall... dailyfaceoff.com Sat 4/5/14 7:56 PM
Quick stopped all 17 shots that he faced in a 4-0 win over the Coyotes on Wednesday. He was given Thursday night off, so it would be no surprise to see the Kings come back to him tonight in Vancouver. Quick has dominated the Canucks this season, going 3-0 with 0.67 GAA and .976 SV% vs. them this season.
DAILY PRIME - APRIL 3, 2014: NO MYSTERY ABOUT MR. PERRY primepucks.com Thu 4/3/14 10:48 AM
The Kings are looking more and more like the Western Conference team that no one would want to face in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Ever since the Olympic break they are 14-4-0 thanks in most part to goaltender Jonathan Quick who shutout the fading Phoenix Coyotes behind a relatively easy 17-save performance. That's his 3rd shutout since the O-break.
Another team that is starting to heat up besides all the injuries to key personnel are the Detroit Red Wings. Although his stats since the O-break aren't that great (7-5-2), Jimmy Howard has performed much better in his last few starts as the Red Wings are trying to nail down their 23rd consecutive playoff appearance. And defeating the hottest team in the NHL in these Boston Bruins is no small feat. It helps when you have the hottest goal-scorer on the planet in Gustav Nyquist. NYKE (pronounced Ni-kee like the sneaker) was held at bay much of the game but midway through the 3rd period, NYKE used his speed to score the eventual game-winner on a breakaway. There sure seems to be no stopping him.
It took a long time, and some brilliant goaltending from G Frederik Andersen (30/32 SV), but the Anaheim Ducks awoke in time to come from a 2-goal deficit to defeat the Edmonton Oilers. Thank you Mr. Corey Perry once again as he scored two goals to tie the game before assisting on the game-winning goal, all in the third period. With 6 games left he won't come close to his career high of 98 points in 2010-2011, but it has been a magical year nonetheless.
Want a sleeper for next year? Look no further than Long Island's Ryan Strome who has been putting up points in the absence of not only John Tavares, but Kyle Okposo as well. Strome should be a lock to start the season with the Islanders and play alongside JT. With 2 assists in last night's 2-1 road victory over Ottawa, that gives him 6 points in last 5 games.

Quick stopped 24 of 26 shots in a win over the Jets on Saturday. He has won five in a row while holding the opposition to nine goals (1.80 G/G). He makes for a great start tonight vs. the Wild. Quick has gone 1-0-1 with a 1.38 GAA and .935 SV% vs. Minny this season.

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT THE TIME OF PRINT
New Jersey hopes to keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a match against the Florida Panthers tonight. Martin Brodeur gets the assignment and will face Dan Ellis at the Prudential Center. Brodeur's numbers have slipped this season and even though he has played fairly well lately, he has lost 4 straight, two of those by shutout. Look for a solid effort tonight as the Devils look to avenge their loss to the Cats on March 14th that started a 3-game slide for the Devs that put a wrench in their run for a playoff spot.....
Anton Khudobin (LIKELY) and the Carolina Hurricanes head to Ottawa to take on Craig Anderson (LIKELY) and the Senators. Both teams have had disappointing seasons and are playing for next season. Anderson had been counted on to backstop the Sens but early season struggles and then an injury have been a nightmare for the Sens. Khudobin on the other hand has taken advantage of his opportunity and played well in Cam Ward's absence due to injury. Khudobin is 16-12-1 with a 2.22 GAA and a .929 SP. Go with the Canes.....
The Winnipeg Jets will travel to Anaheim and go up against Frederik Andersen (LIKELY) and the Ducks who are still in the race for the Western Conference title. The Ducks stand 3 points behind leader St. Louis and have a somewhat easy schedule this week. Andersen rock solid performance against Vancouver on Saturday earned him his second consecutive start. Ondrej Pavelec (LIKELY) returned to the net on Saturday in Los Angeles and lost 4-2 to the Kings. Pavs had lost 4 in a row before getting injured, so nothing seems to have changed. I'd quack loudly for the Ducks....
Ilya Bryzgalov (LIKELY) has finally found some stable ground as a member of the Minnesota Wild as he will go up against Jonathan Quick (LIKELY) and the LA Kings tonight. "Breeze" has gone 3-0-2 since coming over from the Edmonton Oilers and has provided some steadiness after rookie Darcy Kuemper's magical run in net disappeared as quickly as it came. With 7 games to play, the Kings are looking to improve their place in the standings but it looks like they have a firm hold on 6th place. The Kings have won 14 of their last 17 and have won 6 in a row, so lucky 7 should be in the cards.
FANTASY MUST STARTS:
Martin Brodeur, New Jersey vs. Florida
Anton Khudobin, Carolina @ Ottawa
Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles vs. Minnesota
Frederik Andersen, Anaheim vs. Winnipeg
SLEEPER:
None.
