DAILY PRIME- OCTOBER 8, 2014: TEAM RANKINGS, ***NEW FEATURE, LET TH... primepucks.com Wed 10/8/14 4:59 AM

The TEAM RANKINGS have been updated for thestart of the season. See where your favorite team stacks up against the rest of the NHL in the PrimePucks Team Rankings located in the right margin in the TOP RANKINGS Section. ***Check out our new daily feature where PrimePucks gives you what we believe are the top fantasy players for the night. The section is entitled "Daily Roto Hockey Value Picks" and will be updated each and every day that there are NHL games being played. Remember that these are the best "value" picks for that night's games.  We hope you like our changes. Four games on the NHL slate debut the 2014-15 season, which feature several interesting fantasy-worthy matchups. All eyes will be on the Vancouver Canucks and whether they can recapture the glory days under new coach Willie Desjardins. Gone is former All-Star goalie Roberto Luongo and taking his place is perennial Vezina hopeful Ryan Miller. The Sedin brothers looked poised for a comeback year as they will have newly acquired Radim Vrbata flanked on their right side to start the season. All four players are premium value picks in daily fantasy leagues for tonight's matchup against Calgary. I would pack my lineup with the key Canucks.. If you are looking for a short-term value pick, Boston's Ryan Spooner might fit the bill. While the prospect was initially sent packing back to the AHL, a supposedly minor injury to top center David Krejci might have him skating between Milan Lucic and Loui Eriksson in tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. On the other side, LW Wayne Simmonds has skated the last two days and should be available tonight. He looks safe to insert into your starting lineup, but monitor the situation leading up to game-time. Toronto's RW Phil Kessel is probable for tonight's rival clash with Montreal. His linemate James van Riemsdyk is coming off a spectacular pre-season which can catapult him in the upper-echelon of scoring left wingers. He flashed his brilliance with a solid 30-goal/ 61-point campaign last season but can he click with Kessel on a more consistent basis? If he does, here comes 75-80 points. Look for the two to start the season strong. In Los Angeles, the Cup champs will raise the banner while facing a team they own in the playoffs- the San Jose Sharks. Something tells me that fantasy owners will get serious returns in 2014-15 on spurned star forwards Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau who were stripped of their leadership roles in the off-season. While ...

Something tells me that fantasy owners will get serious returns in 2014-15 on spurned star forwards Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau who were stripped of their leadership roles in the off-season. While the duo will play with something to prove, don't expect huge stats in tonight's game as King's starting goalie Jonathan Quick should be the best player on the ice. A solid sleeper pick to insert in your daily lineups is King's center Tyler Toffoli. The second line could be involved in a few goals if all defensive attention is diverted on the Anze Kopitar/Marian Gaborik unit.

DAILY PRIME-OCTOBER 1, 2014: QUICK AND GIROUX BACK primepucks.com Wed 10/1/14 5:52 AM

Jonathan Quick made his exhibition debut, turning aside 16 of 17 shots in the King's 4-1 triumph over San Jose. The return of the great American goaltender prior to the start of the regular season should make fantasy owners breathe easier when selecting him early. Remember-add Martin Jones as a handcuff. I am not totally trusting Quick to stay healthy the whole time.. Claude Giroux also saw action fo the first time, playing 16;53 minutes and adding two shots for the Flyers. Expect him to get off to a stronger start than last yar, where he collected only 7 points in his first 15 games...No Kari Lehtonen, no win for Dallas. While the veteran Swede is recovering from a mild concussion, Anders Lindback started but gave up five goals on 33 shots in the 5-1 loss to Tampa Bay. If Lehtonen were to go down for a long time, I can't see Lindback saving the day. His numbers have been sliding over the last few years...Antti Niemi suffered a loss, giving up four goals on 30 shots. Not the type of performance expected of the Sharks netminder, especially with Alex Stalock breathing down his neck for more playing time. This situation could take a while to play out, but for now the slight edge goes to Niemi... Islanders defenseman TJ Brennan scored his first goal of the preseason on the power play. With Lubomir Visnovsky out due to back spasms, the youngster could get an early look on the man advantage. Definitely worth a late round flier.

DAILY PRIME-SEPTEMBER 29, 2014: PRESEASON NOTES & UPDATED GUIDE primepucks.com Mon 9/29/14 5:42 PM

***PrimePucks is always striving to bring you the most current and up-to-date information so that you won't be a step behind in your fantasy hockey pool.  The 2014-2015 PrimePucks Fantasy Hocey Draft Guide has been updated with he most recent developments, and we will continue to do so up to the opening faceoff. Just go to "MY ACCOUNT" and click on the FILES tab and upload the current Draft Guide or order yours now by clicking on the link above.  Don'  t head into your draft without the most dynamic tool you will ever find! Jeff Carter lit up Anaheim goalie Federik Anderson 3 times as the line of Carter-Tyler Toffoli-Tanner Pearson combined for seven points. The trio showed plenty of chemistry as the King's dominant second line during their Stanley Cup run. They have picked up where they left off in the post season so far.. Carey Price was stellar for the Habs, stopping 29 of 30 shots in their 2-0 loss to Washington. Feel free to draft him early, as he looks fully recovered from a knee injury that ended his playoff run. Steady and elite.. James van Riemsdyk continues his brilliant preseason with another goal, while superstar Phil Kessel led the way with a goal and an assist. This duo is going to reap huge fantasy dividends, especially if van Riemsdyk takes that huge leap forward.. Edmonton captain and defenseman Andrew Ference left the game against Chicago last night with a right arm injury. Minimal fantasy implications, but it could be a huge blow to a team that desperately needs to improve on the defensive end.. The word is that Jonathan Quick could have played last night, with King's coach Brent Sutter planning to get him in 2-3 exhibition games. Quick should be drafted top-five amongst goalies, but don't expect him to get more than 60-65 games.

NHL IN 30: LOS ANGELES KINGS 2014-15 primepucks.com Mon 9/29/14 6:09 AM

With three Game 7 victories during the 2013 playoffs, the Los Angeles Kings fought hard for their 2nd Stanley Cup in three years. As Coach Brent Sutter prepares for the team to build on a possible dynasty and repeat as champs, the Kings were relatively quiet during the free agency period. Their signing of Marian Gaborik to a seven-year extension was the huge news on the offensive front, while Mike Richards will be returning to the team. While the defensive minded Kings seem well equipped for another long playoff run, fantasy owners won't find many elite options on offense. However, Jonathan Quick and Drew Doughty are blue chip studs at their respective positions as they make Los Angeles a favorable fantasy destination. GOALIES We would normally point to Jonathan Quick as one of the safer elite goalie options to own, but questions regarding his recovery from offseason wrist surgery should have fantasy owners concerned. There has been chatter that the team plans to lessen his workload this season in order to keep him healthy for the playoffs. The magic number seems to be 60 games, but that shouldn't make much of a difference. If he is ready to go by Opening Night, he should still be considered a top-five lock. Martin Jones needs to be drafted in later rounds as a mandatory handcuff though. Closely monitor this situation. DEFENSE After another stalwart performance in the playoffs, Drew Doughty looks poised to build on his postseason success with a run at a Norris trophy. With 2 Stanley cup rings and 2 gold medals, only the loftiest individual achievement for a defenseman has eluded him. A monster season awaits Doughty, as he should be one of the top five NHL scorers on the blue-line. Slava Voynov has generally underachieved in his brief career so far, but finished with a respectable 34 points in 82 games. He would post loftier point totals if he would get more minutes on the top power-play unit. Keep tabs on him as the 24-year old can provide a solid return as a late round selection. Keep your eye on both Jake Muzzin and Alec Martinez, as both are capable of 30-35 points with decent peripheral stats. After Doughty, Sutter likes to ride the hot hand amongst the remaining d-men on the power play. We like Voynov as next of the bunch, but this could change during course of the season. FORWARDS If Anze Kopitar could replicate his playoff numbers during the regular season, he would easily be a first round pick in all formats. In reality, he is a second-tier ...

DAILY PRIME-SEPTEMBER 21, 2014- PRE-SEASON PRIMER primepucks.com Sun 9/21/14 6:40 AM

- The word out of Anaheim is that Ryan Kesler is looking pretty sharp through the first couple days of camp. The former Vancouver center was brought in to reinforce a gritty scoring presence on the second line, something they have lacked during the Bruce Boudreau regime. But make no mistake about it- Kesler will be relied on heavily to contribute on the top power play with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. He should be a huge upgrade on Nick Bonino in the trenches... -Another day, another KHL offer for disgruntled Columbus center Ryan Johansen as his current contract stalemate continues. While it's expected that the issue gets resolved before the start of the regular season, any holdout on the part of Johansen would hurt his fantasy value. Also, young Boone Jenner is set to get an early look at center as he was awfully impressive as a rookie last season, scoring 16 goals and 29 points in 76 games. The contingency plan is being set in place just in case RJ sits for awhile.. - Chicago is trying out newly acquired Brad Richards between Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad in early camp with rave reviews so far. The line tinkering will be often early on, but the former Ranger should be a good bet to rebound given the second line center spot will provide him with more talented wingers than during his tenure in New York. Not sure if it will be Saad or Kane, but what about Patrick Sharp or Marian Hossa? Richards should be sitting pretty regardless of his linemates. 50-55 points should be a lock.. -Winnipeg's Evander Kane is "blowing steam" again about being able to score 50 goals this season. No duh, Evander! We all know that you have the talent, but pretty iffy on the drive. Draft him accordingly; expect 25-30 goals/50-55 points but hope that he wakes up to a monster season. Quite the upside here for a middle-round pick at best.. -New Washington Head coach Barry Trotz wants Alex Ovechkin back at left wing. So do all of his fantasy owners. That's where AO has inflicted most of his offensive damage over the years, but Trotz will demand more attention on the defensive side from the superstar. We say there will be a bit of a transition at the onset, but Ovechkin will buy into the program. And get close to 50... Two fantasy studs that are banged up and you need to monitor before your drafts take place are Claude Giroux and Jonathan Quick. Both may miss all of their preseason games due to their injuries but should be ready to go by Opening Night. At this point, do not ...

Quick injured his wrist in game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Rangers. Quick is expected to be healthy in late August or early September which will have him ready to go for the 2014-15 season.

Goalie Start: Quick will be between the pipes for game four. dailyfaceoff.com Wed 6/11/14 2:56 PM

Quick stopped all 32 shots that the Rangers through his way in the Kings' 3-0 win on Monday. The win gave LA a 3-0 series and a chance to sweep the Rangers for the Stanley Cup tonight. Quick might not win the Conn Smythe this season, but he has been great for the Kings throughout the playoffs.
