The Red Wings are scouring free agency for a few defensemen. The Wings traded out of the first round to acquire a few more picks on Day 2. Several high-profile defensemen were dealt on Friday including Brian Campbell, John-Michael Liles,Robyn Regehr, and Brent Burns. GM Ken Holland will focus on re-signing Jon Ericsson before free agency. GM Ken Holland wants to re-sign unrestricted free agent to be Jonathan Ericsson. Ericsson could test the waters of free agency but he does like the organization, so Holland's offer of around $2 million according to the Detroit Free Press, could be enough to keep him in a Red Wings uniform. Ericsson is a fifth defenseman at this time, especially if Detroit signs a blueliner to replace the retired Brian Rafalski. He'll have little fantasy value.
