Goalie Start: Gibson will make his second straight start on Thursday. dailyfaceoff.com Thu 10/30/14 7:56 PM

Gibson stopped all 38 shots that he faced in the Ducks 1-0 win over the Blackhawks on Tuesday. It was an excellent game for the young netminder who has now won back-to-back starts while stopping 54 of 55 shots (.982 SV%). He should be safe to deploy tonight vs. a Blues team without Backes, Stastny or Oshie.

Gibson allowed one goal on 17 shots in a winning effort in his return to the Ducks crease last Friday. With Frederik Andersen coming off of his worst performance of the year on Sunday, look for the Ducks to turn to Gibson tonight. It is not a favourable matchup, but he goes head-to-head with Scott Darling making his second NHL start.

DAILY PRIME - OCTOBER 25, 2014: THIS GIBSON PLAYS SMOOTH primepucks.com Sat 10/25/14 11:17 AM

In his return after a brief conditioning stint in the AHL, Anaheim G John Gibson had an easy go of it against the Columbus Blue Jackets, turning aside 16 of 17 SOG for his first win of the season. With the stellar play of Frederik Andersen so far this year, it looks like Gibson will get spot starts unless Andersen begins to falter. Everything looks to be in Andersen's favor, but one never knows how quickly the hand of fate delivers.  Corey Perry continues his torrid start with a goal and an assist but if somehow D Sami Vatanen is still available in your league, snatch him up ASAP as he had a goal and an assist, both on the power play. Cam Fowler seems to be the forgotten offensive d-man in Anaheim although he did also notch an assist on the power play and now has 5 points in 8 games... Edmonton rattled off their third win in a row as they blasted the Carolina Hurricanes 6-3 at Rexall Place. It appears there is no fantasy-worthy options in Carolina but as the top talent returns to the lineup, the production should improve.  Jeff Skinner broke the ice in his third game back since opening the season on the injury list, so look for his numbers and the rest of the Canes to get quite better as C Eric Staal is close to returning as well. Without either of those in the lineup, the Canes have been horrible as they have gone winless.  Some good "buy-low" options in Carolina.... Speaking of being lost, Edmonton's Jordan Eberle broke out in a big way last night with 2 goals and an assist, the first goal a thing of beauty as he and Tayler Hall had a nice give-and-go to break Eberle free. Those who were a bit disgruntled can breathe a sigh of relief as Eberle should be a big part of that Oil offense.... You knew sooner or later that the Colorado Avalanche offense was going to break out as they scored 7 goals against the visiting Vancouver Canucks. The return of starter Semyon Varlamov didn't hurt either as the team seemed to play much better with their no. 1 back in the crease. Matt Duchene (G, 2A), Jarome Iginla (2G, A) and Tyson Barrie (3A) all had a 3-point night while Erik Johnson had a goal and an assist. Perhaps the Colorado Rocky air was just the right elixir.  Put your Avs back in the lineup pronto.  Take me home country roads.... The talent of the Tampa Bay Lightning, especially starter Ben Bishop (40/42 SVS), was just too much for the Winnipeg Jets. Ondrej Pavelec was chased after giving up 4 through 2 periods and his numbers are clearly not what the team ...

Gibson will make his first start since the season opener on October 9. He made two appearances in the AHL last weekend, where he posted a 1-1-0 record with a 3.05 GAA and .902 SV%. Gibson is an elite prospect and with a great future ahead of him. He has an average matchup against the Blue Jackets who played last night.

Call up / Send down: The Ducks have recalled John Gibson from Norfo... dailyfaceoff.com Mon 10/20/14 2:56 PM

As expected, the Ducks bring Gibson back to the NHL after spending the weekend getting some playing time with Norfolk. He went 1-1-0 with a 3.05 GAA and .902 SV% in two AHL starts, but with no back-to-backs this week and Freddie Andersen playing great, there is no telling when his next start might be.

Call up / Send down: The Ducks have sent John Gibson to Norfolk (AHL). dailyfaceoff.com Wed 10/15/14 2:56 PM

Gibson struggled in his season debut and watched Frederik Andersen start the following two games. However, he is not going down to stay. He will start two AHL games over the weekend and then return to the Ducks next week. So that means Andersen will get the crease this weekend while Gibson refines his game in the AHL. Do not panic on Gibson, but jump on Andersen if available for the weekend.

Goalie Start: Gibson expected to make his second start of the year. dailyfaceoff.com Tue 10/14/14 2:56 PM

Gibson' season opener and return to his hometown did not go as expected. He allowed six goals on 39 shots in a 6-4 loss to the Penguins last Thursday. It was a rough start, but Gibson is on the brink of being a star, so expect him to settle in and get his game on track soon. Tonight, it looks like he will face the Flyers who are 0-2-1 to start the year.

DAILY PRIME- OCTOBER 14: HABS BESTED BY BOLTS primepucks.com Tue 10/14/14 4:56 AM

After being ousted by Montreal during last season's playoffs, the Tampa Bay Lightning were prepared to make a statement last night-and that they did. Their 7-1 romp at home included a dominating "hat trick" effort and 12 SOG from Steven Stamkos, while defenseman Victor Hedman completed the one-two punch with a goal and three assists. Ben Bishop had it easier than on most nights, stopping 16 of 17 shots faced. By the looks of things early on, all three of these stars could arguably end up as the elite fantasy option to own at their respective positions. There is lots of hockey to be played, but you have to love this trio from a fantasy standpoint.. Newcomer Jason Garrison has been largely ignored on the Lightning power-play, largely to the dismay of his fantasy owners. Veteran Matt Carle has also been skipped over, as forwards Ryan Callahan and Valtteri Fillpula are playing top minutes in their four-forward primary alignment on the man advantage... Great start so far for Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson, who shut out the Florida Panthers 1-0 after turning aside all 30 shots thrown his way. With a 1-1 record plus a 1.51 GAA and a .957 SP, the veteran has responded to all the pressure of Robin Lehner waiting to take the starting role for the Senators. Maybe not so fast, as Anderson is not far removed from an incredible 2012-13 campaign, where he posted a 1.69 GAA and .941 SP in 24 starts... David Krejci returned for the Boston Bruins, but the game ended up badly for them as veteran Daniel Briere scored the game-winner for Colorado with just .04 seconds left in the final period. It seems prudent to avoid starting your Boston skaters until they recover from their early-season malaise. With four goals in 4 games, the Bruin's offense has been stuck in neutral. They may miss Jarome Iginla more than they thought.. Loui Eriksson continues to play with Carl Soderberg on the third line. While the two Swedes have shown some chemistry, Eriksson's fantasy value will improve greatly if he can latch on to David Krejci.. Ryan Kesler has had a huge impact on the Anaheim Duck's offense immediately, adding a penalty shot goal in their 5-1 demolition of Buffalo. Corey Perry can't be stopped as he scored a power-play marker for his fourth goal of the season..Goalie Federik Andersen had an cakewalk of an afternoon, facing only 12 shots but he has looked sharp in his two outings. John Gibson could get the call against Philadelphia tonight... Patrick Maroon left the game after ...
