Buffalo GM Darcy Regier still has some interest in re-signing Hecht Jochen. He became an unrestricted free agent in the summer and ended up signing a two-year contract with Adler Mannheim to play in Germany. Regier said he would be in contact with the players' agent about the possibility of rejoining the Sabres. Buffalo forward Jason Pominville played with Hecht during the lockout in Germany. "He looks great. He's healthy. He's the same Jochen that he's always been," Pominville said. Hecht's last two seasons in Buffalo were disrupted by concussion issues, but he doesn't have any health issues now.

Jochen Hecht has signed a two-year contract with Mannheim in the German Elite League. Hecht was a member of the Buffalo Sabres last season and wanted to stay with the Sabres but with the lockout in the forefront of the action, he signed on with his hometown German city. Hecht does have an out in his contract which allows him to return to the NHL if he gets an offer. He is expected to leave for Germany from Toronto today. He is expected to play on Sunday.

Jochen Hecht, who has sustained three concussions in less than a year, is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but he wants to stay with the Buffalo Sabres. "I would like to play here," he said. "My family likes it here, my kids love it here, and it would be great to come back for another year and get this team in the playoffs." Hecht has been with the Sabres organization since the 2002-03 season and he has played in 566 contests with the club. He skated in 67 games last year and only 22 this past campaign. Hecht is hopeful of his progress though, as he hasn't experienced symptoms for nearly two months and feels like he will be ready for training camp.

Jochen Hecht (concussion) has resumed skating with his teammates. However, the Sabres have only 10 games remaining on their regular season schedule, so he probably won't play again this year unless the Sabres qualify for the playoffs. The 34-year-old forward has missed a total of 44 games, including the last 24, because of a pair of concussions this season, but he doesn't plan on hanging up his skates just yet.

The odds of Jochen Hecht (concussion) returning before the end of the 2011-12 campaign seem to be diminishing by the day. "He's kind of stuck in no-man's land," Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "With extra exercise [he] has had some good days and had some days that weren't quite as good, so we're kind of stuck in that area where we don't know where he'll be going yet." Jochen Hecht has suffered three concussions in just a year. He has played in just 22 games this season and has been out with his latest concussion since Jan. 21.

Jochen Hecht hopes to return at some point this season from his second concussion in 2011-12. "I feel good," he said Wednesday morning when he spoke to reporters. "I rode the bike the last couple days. Now I'm at that point where I can start working out again and pump the intensity up slowly." Hecht will be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but for now he is focused on continuing to get better. There's no timetable for his return though.

It's still uncertain when Jochen Hecht will be able to return to the lineup from a concussion. "We haven't gone one way or the other with him yet," coach Lindy Ruff said. "Nobody has shut him down so he's still in the process of working his way back." Hecht underwent a neck procedure last week to help with his symptoms and has been limited to 22 games this season because of injuries.

Jochen Hecht (concussion) will undergo a non-surgical neck procedure. The hope is that the procedure will help alleviate Hecht's symptoms. "They've done some further examination," Ruff said, "and I think right now they're going to do a procedure on his neck where maybe some of that pain has been coming from." Hecht hasn't played since Jan. 21.
