Howard will guard the goal in Saturday's road game against the Golden Knights, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Howard was sharp in his last start Tuesday against the Rangers, stopping 41 of 43 shots en route to a 3-2 road victory. The American netminder will look to stay dialed in and pick up his 20th win of the season in a tough road matchup with a red-hot Vegas team that's gone 9-1-0 in its last 10 games.

Howard signed a one-year, $4 million contract extension with the Red Wings on Wednesday, John Shannon of Sportsnet reports, adding that the deal comes with playoff bonuses.
EDGE Analysis
Howard will turn 35 years old next Tuesday, but this extension shouldn't exactly qualify as a birthday gift since he's agreeing to take a $1.291 million pay cut to stick with a rebuilding Detroit club that has now missed the playoffs for three straight seasons. From a fantasy perspective, it's good to know that Howard has such strong job security -- he's been with the Wings ever since he was taken in the second round (64th overall) of the 2003 draft -- but the extension itself should have a negligible effect on his value. He's posted a career record of 240-171-68 along with a 2.54 GAA and .908 save percentage.

Howard turned aside 41 of 43 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran netminder had coughed up 11 goals in his prior two games, so this performance was something of a relief. Howard's struggles actually extend back further than that -- he's only won twice in his last nine outings including Tuesday, with a 4.61 GAA and .874 save percentage -- so even if he's righted the ship, he'll likely remain in a timeshare with Jonathan Bernier down the stretch.

Howard will defend the road net against the Rangers on Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the Red Wings well out of the playoff picture, coach Jeff Blashill has created more of an even timeshare between Jonathan Bernier and Howard, who has plenty of career success against the Rangers. The New York native conquered the Blueshirts at home March 7, but Howard is back for more on the road -- he a career record of 100-86-26 through 230 career starts away from Motown.

Howard made 34 saves in a 5-4 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Howard was up 3-0 part way through the second period and 3-1 after two. But the floodgates opened and the powerhouse Bolt offense shredded the Wings. Detroit has lost 12 of its last 13 and have been officially eliminated from the playoffs.

Howard will guard the cage in Thursday's home game against the Lightning, Dana Wakiji of the Red Wings' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Howard wasn't great in his last start Sunday against the Panthers, allowing six goals on 43 shots en route to an ugly 6-1 loss. The American backstop will look to bounce back and secure his 19th win of the season in a brutal home matchup with a Tampa Bay team that's averaging 3.61 goals per game on the road this campaign, first in the NHL.

Howard stopped 37 of 43 shots in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
It's the second time in his last four starts Howard's surrendered six goals, but it's also the second time in that stretch he's had to face 40 or more shots. The veteran netminder's 3.02 GAA would be the worst mark of his career, but his .907 save percentage is actually right in line with his usual performance over the last half-dozen campaigns, highlighting how porous the Wings' defense has become.

Howard is projected to start Sunday's matchup with the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Howard won his last start in a shootout over the Rangers on Thursday, but that's the only game that the Red Wings have won in their last 10. Detroit's top netminder will face a Florida team that's gone 17-12-6 in its own building.

Howard made 32 saves through overtime and stopped all three shootout attempts in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Pavel Buchnevich was the only Ranger to solve Howard -- doing so twice -- but Howard got the last laugh by stopping Buch in the skills challenge to snap the Red Wings' eight-game losing streak. While the veteran netminder has made the most of what he's had to work with, the team around him leaves much to be desired, so Howard will continue to be more of a matchup-based option rather than a set-and-forget type down the stretch.

Howard will field shots from the Rangers at home Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Howard has owned the Rangers, as the New York native has gone 8-3-3 with a 1.75 GAA and .948 save percentage against them in his 13-year career. Coincidentally, he's also maintained 1.72 and .934 splits against the Sabres, so there's obviously a level of comfort for Howie when he's facing clubs that remind him of home. Unfortunately, he'll have to work against the grain in the upcoming start, as 22-year-old trailblazer Dylan Larkin is day-to-day and unavailable due to a back injury, and the team has also disclosed that power-play defenseman Mike Green (illness) is out for the rest of the season.
