Pominville admitted in an interview earlier this month with Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News that his playing career is likely over. "I viewed the odds of [playing a 16th NHL season] happening as very, very, very slim," Pominville said. "I was prepared for it. I wasn't by any means disappointed. Obviously, it would have been nice to get a call from some contender looking for a veteran...I can't see myself playing anywhere next year, especially after not playing for over a year. I'm past it and over it. It's definitely been a fun ride."
EDGE Analysis
After hitting free agency last summer, the 37-year-old Pominville didn't have much of a market for his services after scoring just 31 points in 2018-19, his fewest of any professional season in which he skated at least 60 games. Though he has seemingly kept himself in shape over the past few months with the hope of latching on somewhere around the NHL in the event an opportunity popped up, Pominville ultimately failed to garner much interest. He'll likely make a formal retirement announcement later in 2020, spelling an official end to a 15-year career split between Buffalo and Minnesota. Over 1,060 regular-season games, Pominville netted 293 goals and tallied 434 assists, earning one All-Star nod (in 2011-12) along the way.

Pominville picked up an assist in Thursday's loss to the Red Wings.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville's assist ended an eight-game point drought. He's currently skating on Buffalo's second line, but the drought caused him to be a healthy scratch for a pair of games. The apple give him 29 points in 69 games on the campaign, which isn't too far off from the 34 points he tallied last year. However, 13 of those points came during a seven-game hot streak. That would give him 16 points in the other 62 contests -- a far less attractive statistic.

Pominville registered an assist in a 4-3 loss to the Oilers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville has found himself on the third line in recent games, and it was there that he earned the secondary helper on a Casey Mittelstadt goal. Over his last 10 games, Pominville has two goals and three assists while firing 18 shots on goal. The 36-year-old winger has racked up 28 points in 60 contests this season, and he should finish the season around 35 points barring an injury down the stretch.

Pominville scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in Tuesday's victory over the Islanders.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville is playing on the top line alongside Jack Eichel, and he's producing more as a result. Pominville has three points -- all goals -- in his past six contests. He had just a goal and an assist in the previous 22 games. He's up to 23 points in 50 games, and has value as long as he doesn't move down the depth chart.

Pominville picked up a goal in Friday's loss to Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville had been held pointless in his past four outings, leading to him being scratched for Wednesday's game against Dallas. It was just his second goal in 25 games, leaving him with 11 on the season. He has gradually become less effective as the months have gone by, losing stock in fantasy leagues across the board.

Pominville, who failed to score in 8:38 of ice time Saturday against the Bruins, has scored only one goal in 23 games since Nov. 3 and was recently moved to the fourth line, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville started the year hot -- at one point he had 13 points over a seven-game stretch -- but that's when he was skating with Jack Eichel on the top line, and his game has regressed tremendously since. He's averaging a career-low 12:45 of ice time and has played less than nine minutes the last two games, even with the Sabres scrambling for forward help with Eichel on the shelf. Pominville has also seen just 14 seconds of power-play time over the last 10 games combined, while he rarely skates in overtime games because, at 36 years of age, he can no longer keep up with younger, speedier players. He's a great locker-room presence for an up-and-coming team and there's still a role for him, it's just not one that relates to fantasy production any longer.

Pominville (undisclosed) will return to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Bruins, Jourdon LaBarber of Sabres.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville is expected to return to a bottom-six role, skating with Vladimir Sobotka and Tage Thompson on the Sabres' third line. The veteran forward has been a solid source of secondary scoring for Buffalo this season, notching nine goals and 18 points in 33 contests, but he's nothing more than a low-end bench option in most fantasy formats.

Pominville (undisclosed) practiced Friday and could return to action Saturday against the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville could end up being a game-time decision for Saturday's contest, so owners considering slotting him into their lineups will want to check back prior to puck drop for confirmation on his status. If he's able to go, Pominville will likely Zemgus Girgensons from the lineup.

Pominville (undisclosed) didn't make the trip to St. Louis and will be out of the lineup for Thursday's matchup, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville is considered day-to-day by the team, although he remains on injured reserve. The fact that the club couldn't practice Wednesday appears to have weighed heavily on the decision to hold Pominville out for another game. If he can join his teammates on the ice Friday, he might be available against Boston on Saturday.

Pominville (undisclosed) has been placed on injured reserve, per the NHL Media site.
EDGE Analysis
Pominville was ruled out for Friday's game against the Capitals, but his placement on IR guarantees he will sit out Saturday against the Ducks as well. He will be eligible to return for the first game out of the holiday break next Thursday versus the Blues, while Remi Elie -- who will sub in Friday -- will presumably slot into Saturday's lineup as well.
