The Devils are saying the injury is not serious and Jagr should be ready for the season opener. "I believe he'll be ready. That's just my opinion," DeBoer said. "I'd like to see him in an exhibition game or two in a perfect world, but I think he'll be ready."
DAILY PRIME - SEPTEMBER 13, 2013: PIETRANGELO ENDS HOLDOUT; TRAININ... primepucks.com Fri 9/13/13 7:46 AM
St. Louis Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo came to terms on a 7-year contract ending what turned out to be a very short holdout. This is not only good news for Blues fans, but also fantasy owners who can expect the talented young d-man to not only lead the Blues back line but also challenge his previous career high in points of 51 back in 2011-2012.
Training Camp Bits: Newly-signed Nazem Kadri getting an early look on Phil Kessel's line in Toronto. Meanwhile, Joffrey Lupul remains day-to-day with a back injury. Already?... In Montreal, veteran Daniel Briere is temporarily shifted to wing and is playing with Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais. I kinda like this one, because a proven scoring presence could do wonders for the talented youngsters... As expected, Boston newcomer Loui Eriksson is lining up with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand to start camp.. My most interesting note from a fantasy point, would be Marcus Foligno playing with Thomas Vanek and Cody Hodgson. If this line sticks during the regular season, Foligno becomes fantasy relevant. Way too early, though.. A few injuries to mention- Jaromir Jagr left Devil's practice due to "soreness". Hey, it's tough being 40+ in the NHL. Washington's Brook Laich is day to day with a hip flexor injury.

NHL IN 30-2013/14: DALLAS STARS primepucks.com Sat 9/7/13 8:29 AM
The Dallas Stars believed that if they brought in some veterans to the club, that it would help the Stars reach the playoffs after missing out on the big dance the previous 4 years. 40 year-olds Ray Whitney & Jaromir Jagr couldn't help bridge that short gap of just missing the playoffs the previous three years. Jamie Benn's holdout at the beginning of the season didn't help either. Nor did the shortened Lockout season, but every team was in a similar situation. The Stars just weren't aligning for Dallas, especially after a 3-6 start. Glen Gulutzan out. Lindy Ruff in. Veteran Head Coach Ruff was brought in for the inexperienced Gulutzan after the season was over. Ruff should help transform the also-rans to a more cohesive group. What also will help is the trade of under-rated LW Loui Eriksson. The main returns were Boston Bruins C Tyler Seguin & RW Rich Peverley. The Stars got the better player in the deal, but only if Seguin can keep his office discretions to a minimum and play up to his massive potential. They acquired veteran Shawn Horcoff from the Edmonton Oilers. Dallas gains a hard-working vet who brings his consistent game night-in and night-out, although his numbers didn't show it. Edmonton's loss is Dallas' gain.
Goalies
Kari Lehtonen is the Stars' starting net minder and will see the majority of the starts. Richard Bachman, last season's backup, now plays in Edmonton. The team brought in established backup Dan Ellis to spell Lehtonen on occasion and if the starter should go down to an injury, as has been the case in his career, then the club will call up Cris Nilsorp from the AHL to man the nets with Ellis. When healthy, Lehtonen will start between 60-70 games and give you a decent GAA and SP, his average being 2.71 and .914. His best season was just two years ago when he sported a 2.33 GAA and .922 SP. The Stars goaltender will get you somewhere in-between those sets of numbers. Steady 1B goalie.
Defense
The Stars had been hoping to catch another defensive gem from Pittsburgh like they did with Sergei Zubov back in 1996, but Alex Goligoski has never shown the brilliance that is expected of him. The Stars decided to bring in Sergei Gonchar in hopes his offensive prowess will rub off on the younger Goligoski. Expect to see both on the top power play and you just might see Gogo eclipse the 40-point barrier. Gonchar will chip in with some offense but don't expect him to return to his glory days of the Washington Capitals and ...

Jagr split last season with the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins, totaling 16 goals and 19 assists in 45 games, while averaging 18:20 of ice time. He had 10 points -- all assists -- in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Bruins. Even at age 41, Jagr remains a valuable asset to any team seeking a big body with some scoring touch. Jagr has 681 goals and 1,688 points in 1,391 regular-season games spanning 19 seasons with six different clubs.
DAILY PRIME- JULY 22, 2013: LITTLE INKS DEAL WITH JETS; JAGR SIGNS ... primepucks.com Mon 7/22/13 5:37 PM
BRYAN LITTLE AGREES TO LONG-TERM DEAL
The Winnipeg Jets have signed winger Bryan Little to a five-year/ $23.5 million contract extension. Only 25 years of age, the skilled forward scored 31 goals in his second NHL season in 2008-09, but has fallen short of high offensive expectations ever since. Coming off a decent season where he collected 32 points in 48 games, Little can reach the 55-60 point mark in 2013/14 if he clicks on the top line with budding stars Evander Kane and Blake Wheeler. Their play alone can make Little fantasy relevant, so don't forget him. Keep in mind that he could be very streaky, though.
JAROMIR JAGR SIGNED A ONE YEAR DEAL WITH THE DEVILS
Jaromir Jagr is clearly not ready to retire from the NHL as he signed a one year contract today with the New Jersey Devils. Rumors have it that it was in the vicinity of $4 million. With the departure of Ilya Kovalchuk, Devils GM Lou Lamoriellio was anxious to have some forward talent to help replace him on the wings. At 41 years old, Jagr is clearly not the same player who scored 149 points for Pittsburgh in 1995-1996. But he did score 35 points in 45 games last year, split between Dallas and Boston. He played well in the playoffs, although he had no goals in 22 games. He is having a hard time finishing off plays at his age, but could be an asset on the power play. He could possibly score 50-55 points this year, but be aware that his skills are deteriorating. Interesting that the Bruins let him go so easily.
GAGNER GETS $14 MILLION/3-YEAR DEAL AT THE LAST MINUTE
The Edmonton Oilers announced this morning that they have come to an agreement with center Sam Gagner, who was about to go to arbitration this morning. Gagner was given a 3 year/$14 million contract. Both players and management are reluctant to go to arbitration because of the uncertainty of the outcome. Gagner is getting a little less than he wanted, but he now has a bit more job security with the long-term deal. His fantasy value is still that of a later round draft pick, who has upside if he dedicates himself to the game.

Yes, we had warned you to sell high on quite possibly the most overhyped defensive fantasy asset in recent years. For all his perennial hype as a power-play specialist, defensive shortcomings and injury issues limited him to just three 30+ point seasons and just once over 40 in his 10-year career. Now, he has inked a three-year contract with the ZCS Lions of the Swiss League, which means we might have seen the last of Bergeron in the NHL. No huge loss for fantasy owners, as they will have one less overrated player to worry about while drafting their teams.
EDMONTON CENTER SAM GAGNER WILL GO TO ARBITRATION TODAY
