While game-to-game inconsistency from the 25-year-old freshman should be expected going forward, Coreau is worth a speculative grab in deeper seasonal leagues or if you're in need of a netminder.

After coming up big against the Penguins on Saturday, Coreau will keep his spot between the pipes. Since getting called up, the young netminder has posted four wins in seven appearances and while fantasy owners would like to see a lower GAA (3.12), it is hard to argue against racking up victories. If Coreau continues to perform well, coach Jeff Blashill may decide to keep riding the 25-year-old rather than turning the reins back over to Petr Mrazek who has struggled of late.

At this stage of the game, the 25-year-old netminder is nothing more than a streaming option in seasonal leagues and low-priced flier in daily contests.

Coreau's a rookie, but he's already seen the Penguins this season. He stopped 32 of 36 shots in a hard-fought loss against Sidney Crosby's team in his NHL debut -- Dec. 3. The Red Wings have struggled in all facets of the game this season, so we'd be shy about streaming him in a grudge match against a Pittsburgh team that is just as dominant offensively -- the Pen's are No. 1 in goals per game -- as when he saw them last time.

It was a short leash for Coreau, who was no match for a high-powered Sharks squad. The 25-year-old has been decent in limited action with Jimmy Howard (knee) sidelined, posting a 3-1-1 record with a .903 save percentage. While he posted a 34-save shutout in his previous start, he showed with his lackluster play Saturday and in the Winter Classic that finding consistency may be one of his issues. He may be worth scooping up in some very deep leagues for the odd start in gets in place of Petr Mrazek.

Coreau notched his first career shutout against the Kings in Los Angeles on Thursday, and now the rookie will be stacked up against a Sharks team that has lost three straight games. Still, he'll have to bring his A-game once again, as the Sharks are loaded with savvy veterans, including Joe Pavelski (35 points) and Joe Thornton (23 helpers) on the top line.

Although Coreau was able to win his two previous overtime appearances, he fell in overtime Sunday. The five goals he allowed on 28 shots dropped his season's save percentage to .889, and all five of the goals Sunday were on even strength. Coreau will have to hope he receives another opportunity to win the Detroit net because he didn't earn it versus Toronto.
