Rutta took a hard hit into the boards in Tuesday's game against the Panthers and won't return.
EDGE Analysis
The nature of this injury isn't clear, but the worries seem to be surrounding a possible head injury. More details will likely be released after the game or Wednesday morning. Rutta's next opportunity to play will be Thursday in Winnipeg, and if he can't, Michal Kempny will likely take his place.

Rutta scored a power-play goal and added two assists in 22:59 of ice time in Sunday's loss to New Jersey.
EDGE Analysis
It's been an impressive start to the NHL for the 27-year-old defenseman out of the Czech Republic. Rutta hasn't been playing on the power play much, but he saw time on the team's second unit Sunday. The offensive minded rearguard put up some strong totals overseas and could be worth a look now that he's locked into a steady role with the Blackhawks. Don't buy into the hype too much, however, as he's gone through a couple long droughts this season and still takes a backseat to skilled veterans such as Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith.

Rutta has appeared in all 13 games for the Blackhawks this season.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old blueliner has enjoyed a solid start to his NHL career, notching five points (two goals, three assists) while posting a plus-5 rating over 13 contests. He's averaging 19:31 of ice time per game, and he's one of three defensemen on Chicago's roster that has yet to sit as a healthy scratch this campaign. Rutta likely won't produce enough offense to be a desirable option in most fantasy formats this season, but he's shown enough potential to be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.

Rutta recorded a goal and a power-play assist over 17:27 of ice time (0:43 with the man advantage) during Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old Czech has collected a point in each of the first three games of the season for two goals, two assists, five shots and a plus-7 rating. It's been a solid start to his NHL career, and Rutta also posted strong offensive numbers in the Czech League the past two years with 53 points through 90 games. Still, he's locked into a depth role and is unlikely to maintain his current scoring pace. It's probably best to temper fantasy expectations moving forward.

Rutta scored a goal in the Blackhawks' 5-1 victory against the Blue Jackets on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Chicago merely added the 27-year-old from the Czech Republic for depth, but in his first two NHL games, Rutta surprisingly scored his first goal and assist. Of course, the Blackhawks have 15 goals in those two games, so just about everybody has found the scoresheet. Even if Chicago has a top offense this season, the team will obviously not continue to score at this current pace.
