Voracek (concussion) officially announced his retirement Tuesday, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Voracek hasn't played in an NHL game since Nov. 4, 2022, due to concussion concerns. The winger spent the entire year on LTIR while officially a member of the Arizona Coyotes, though he never played for the organization. Voracek will retire having logged 1,058 games for the Flyers and Blue Jackets in which he tallied 223 goals and 583 assists.

Voracek (concussion) is not expected to resume his NHL career, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports, resulting in Arizona acquiring his contract from Columbus on Thursday along with a 2023 sixth-round pick in exchange for Jon Gillies.
EDGE Analysis
The biggest news here is that Voracek has likely played his final NHL game due to his concussion problems. If that's truly the case, Voracek will eventually retire when his contract expires after the 2023-24 campaign having logged 1,058 games for the Flyers and Blue Jackets in which he racked up 223 goals and 583 assists. By taking on Voracek's contract, the Coyotes won't have to worry about reaching the cap floor next season.

"Obviously I'm going to make my best efforts to try to (return), but it might be a long process," he admitted. "As of now, I don't see myself playing in the near future, but I'll do everything in my power to try to get back on the ice." Voracek added that he feels "OK" right now.

Voracek's upper-body injury is a concussion and Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen doesn't expect him to return in the near future.
EDGE Analysis
Voracek hasn't been medically cleared to engage in hockey activities. He has a history of head injuries and his doctors want him to take some time off in the hopes that will cause his symptoms to go away. When Voracek's healthy, he's one of the Blue Jackets' top forwards and a pillar of their first power-play unit. The 33-year-old last played Nov. 4.

EDGE Analysis
Voracek will be replaced in the lineup by Mathieu Olivier as the Blue Jackets are playing their final game in Finland. Voracek scored his first goal of the season Friday in a 6-3 loss to the Avalanche and has six points in 11 games this season. Consider him day-to-day.

Voracek secured a rare power-play goal during a 6-3 loss to the Avalanche on Friday in Finland.
EDGE Analysis
With the Blue Jackets trailing the Global Series matchup 3-0 early in the second period, Voracek connected on a goal with the man-advantage. His first marker in 11 outings was notable because the Blue Jackets were 0-for-25 on the power play and it sparked a three-goal rally, briefly tying the score. The 33-year-old right winger finished with three shots against the Avalanche.

Voracek collected two assists in Sunday's win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
He had a hand in Andrew Peeke's eventual game-winner early in the second period, as well as Kent Johnson's tally late in the third that closed out the scoring. Voracek is still looking for his first goal of the season, but the 33-year-old has been productive as the greybeard on the Blue Jackets' second line alongside 20-year-old rookie Johnson and 25-year-old center Jack Roslovic, racking up five assists in seven games.
