Allen gave up a goal in each period and never really had a chance with Mike Smith surprisingly bricking up the net against the league-best Montreal offense. Carey Price's backup still sports a solid 4-2-0 record, and Allen has alternated between giving up one goal and three goals in each of his first six starts for the Canadiens.

Montreal has back-to-back games Monday and Tuesday against Vancouver, so it's possible Allen draws another starting assignment for one of those tilts.

The 30-year-old backstop will attempt to secure a third straight victory in a home matchup with a slumping Calgary club that's lost its last three games.
