Since winning his season debut, Markstrom has gone 0-4-1 over his last five outings. However, he's produced a respectable 2.61 GAA and .902 save percentage during that span. The 33-year-old has allowed three or fewer goals in four straight outings. Markstrom went 0-2-0 while allowing five goals on 48 shots in two appearances against the Oilers last season.

Markstrom stopped 32 of 34 shots in Thursday's 3-0 loss to the Blues. The third goal was an empty-netter.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom put together a solid start, but the Flames struggled in front of him. The first goal allowed was a Kasperi Kapanen shorthanded tally, and Nick Leddy's goal banked in off a Calgary defenseman. Markstrom has allowed two or fewer goals in three of his six outings this season, but he's gone 0-2-1 in those games. Overall, he's at 1-4-1 with 16 goals allowed on 170 shots, a .906 save percentage. The Flames' next game is the Heritage Classic versus the struggling Oilers on Sunday.

Markstrom is expected to guard the home crease versus St. Louis on Thursday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom saved 34 of 37 shots in a 5-3 victory over Winnipeg on Oct. 11, but he hasn't won a game since, posting a 2.75 GAA and an .889 save percentage while going 0-3-1 over his last four appearances. St. Louis has been abysmal offensively this year, averaging just 2.00 goals per game, so this might be a good assignment for Markstrom as he looks to end his slump.

Markstrom allowed three goals on 20 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The Flames took a 1-0 lead 75 seconds into the game, but things fell apart in the second period. Two of the three goals against Markstrom came on power plays for the Rangers. Since his Opening Night win versus Winnipeg, Markstrom has gone 0-3-1, though he's allowed a decent 11 goals over those four outings -- it's a lack of offense that's troubled him lately. Dan Vladar hasn't had much more success, so it's unclear who will get the starting nod Thursday versus the Blues.

Markstrom kicked aside 26 of the 28 shots he faced in Friday's 3-1 road loss against the Blue Jackets.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom allowed just two goals for the second consecutive start, but he has no wins to show for his efforts. He has now 0-2-1 across the past three outings despite a respectable 2.66 GAA and .899 save percentage. The Flames are back at it Sunday afternoon on the road against the Red Wings.

Markstrom will guard the road goal versus the Blue Jackets on Friday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom got Thursday off as Dan Vladar guided the Flames to a 4-3 win over the Sabres. Markstrom will now retake the crease for the second half of a back-to-back. He has gone 1-1-1 with nine goals allowed on 88 shots through three starts this season.

Markstrom turned aside 21 of 23 shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Capitals.
EDGE Analysis
Markstrom will want the second goal back, as Connor McMichael squeaked a shot through his five-hole. Over three contests, Markstrom has gone 1-1-1 with nine goals allowed on 88 shots, putting him already in similar territory to his numbers from last season. With the 33-year-old offering uninspiring play so far, head coach Ryan Huska may want to give Dan Vladar a start in the near future. Calgary has a back-to-back Thursday and Friday against the Sabres and Blue Jackets.

Markstrom made 25 saves in a 5-1 loss to the Penguins on Saturday. He allowed four goals.
EDGE Analysis
The game was a duel until almost the end of the second period when Matthew Coronato scored to put the Flames up 1-0. But then Markstrom surrendered two Pens' goals in the first 41 seconds of the third, and the proverbial flood gate opened. Markstrom is 1-1 with a 3.57 GAA and .892 save percentage to start the season. He needs to quickly rebound from a season to forget, and to justify his $6 million AAV through 2025-26.
