Wideman was plus-1 and set up two scores in Friday night's win over the Canucks, though he did experience defensive lapses in the form of a takeaway and two giveaways.
EDGE Analysis
The well-traveled Wideman enjoyed one of the better seasons of his career in 2014-15, dialing in 15 goals and 41 assists through 80 contests with the Flames. He's likely to get overlooked on a squad that features a more talented defenseman in Mark Giordano, but then again, the two could very well form a top defensive pairing in Calgary and complement each other just fine. Emerging young blueliner Dougie Hamilton, acquired in an offseason trade with Boston, could also eat into Wideman's minutes should the latter falter for an extended period of time. As much as we think Wideman can get the job done for the Flames, the upside is not there.
