Weiss (groin) will play with AHL Grand Rapids on Friday, and could return Saturday if everything goes well, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Weiss' conditioning stint was announced earlier in the week, though his return date was initially slotted for next Monday or Wednesday. He has played in just one game with the Wings this season, and had just four all of last season in 26 games with the Red Wings.
