Walker was among those sent down to AHL Hershey on Tuesday, Tarik El-Bashir of CSN Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
The league's first Australian-born draftee will have to wait a little longer to play his first regular-season NHL game. Walker was a strong contender to make the Capitals opening night roster as a depth forward but appears to have lost that competition to hulking forward Zach Sanford. Also released Tuesday were forwards Chandler Stephenson and Travis Boyd along with defenseman Tyler Lewington. The third-round pick from the 2014 Draft will hone his skills with AHL Hershey to start the season and look to build off a solid 17 goal, 41 point campaign.
