Chekhovich was waived by the Sharks on Monday for the purpose of terminating his contract, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Chekhovich played in four games for San Jose last season in which he registered one assist, five shots and two blocks while averaging 10:29 of ice time. The 22-year-old winger is expected to sign in the KHL and could get another shot at an NHL gig if he performs well back in Russia.
