Visnovsky was released from his professional tryout contract with the Blackhawks on Monday.

Visnovsky was largely competing with the likes of Michael Rozsival for a third-pairing role with the Hawks in 2015-16. Chicago recently opted to sign Rozsival to a one-year deal, so it isn't a huge surprise that Visnovsky was unable to lock down a spot on the team's 23-man roster. The 39-year-old may draw interest from teams lacking depth at defense as a free agent.
