Versteeg is sick with the flu and will not play in Thursday's preseason game against the Red Wings, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports. Coach Joel Quenneville noted that he doesn't expect Versteeg to miss much practice time as a result of the illness, giving him plenty of time to get conditioning work in for the start of the regular season. Versteeg's role is in some question entering the season, as his poor showing in the playoffs has him fighting with a slew of players for a bottom-six role.
