Vernon Fiddler chose to re-sign with the Dallas Stars because he likes the direction of the team.
"Honestly, I had better offers. But I wanted to stay with this team and finish the job," Fiddler said. "There is a real attraction to playing here and playing to win, and seeing this through. I think this is going to be a really good team, and I want to be a part of that." In addition to Fiddler, the Stars signed Ales Hemsky, Patrick Eaves and goalie Anders Lindback. The team also acquired Jason Spezza from the Ottawa Senators. Fiddler requested a trade last year because he wanted more ice time, but he stayed the with the club and "everything took care of itself." He'll make $1 million next season and $1.5 million in 2015-16, while continuing to serve as a bottom-six forward.
