While he didn't hit the scoresheet in his last two NHL games, Varone was unleashed on the power play for 1:42 in Monday's 5-1 loss to the Lightning and managed to avoid falling on the undesirable side of the plus-minus rating. The addition of Alex Burrows via a trade from Vancouver seemed to have hurt Varone's chances of staying up with the parent club this time around, but he should at least remain a popular call-up option when injuries hurt the team up front.
