Vancouver GM Jim Benning is open to upgrading his crease situation going into next year, so Eddie Lack and Jacob Markstrom could face some competition. "We're going to look at every avenue we have to make our team competitive. Vancouver is a big-market city, we've got a passionate fan base, [and] our owners want to win," Benning told Sportsnet 590 The Fan. "I know they have a lot of confidence in Eddie Lack. For a first-year goalie last year, he had a good season, and we hope that he can take it to the next step this year." The Canucks could use a seasoned and proven netminder, but they would also like to add a scorer up front so a $2.35 million cap hit for its goaltending tandem might be an attractive option. Still, there will be plenty of names available in the open market this summer, including Ryan Miller, Jonas Hiller, Ilya Bryzgalov, Tim Thomas, Alex Stalock and Thomas Greiss.
