The 21-year-old defenseman burst onto the scene in 2013-14, when he recorded 29 points in 65 games (an 82-game pace of 37 points), but has seen his production fall in consecutive seasons. Trouba is in the final year of his entry-level contract, and will be a restricted free agent this offseason. The Jets will most definitely be looking to retain the services of the ninth-overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, but contract negotiations may be difficult for the parties involved.
