Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Randy Carlyle was unusually effusive about defenseman Jake Gardiner's play when asked on Sunday. Carlyle told TSN's Jonas Siegel that Gardiner's Saturday performance was "probably the model in which we'd like him to play to." The 23-year-old has 13 points, 10 PIM, 67 SOG and a -2 rating in 44 games played. He's also averaged 21:36 TOI per contest.
