Tomas Holmstrom's two goals in the Red Wings' 7-2 slaughter of Columbus Monday night were his first since Jan. 17 and ended a 28-game drought.
It also gave him 242 career goals, with exactly 50 percent of those (121) coming on the power play. And it gave him some reporters to talk to after the game, when he said that the Wings need to keep recording wins despite clinching a 21st consecutive playoff berth Monday night. "We have big games coming up, and we need points because we want to start at home in the playoffs," said Tomas Holmstrom, who scored two power-play goals. "We want to get back on track, for sure. Even if Columbus is a last place team in the league, there are no easy games."
