Toews started out where he left off by scoring the game-winning goal, 2-1, in Tuesday's pre-season opener against Detroit. Toews tallied 28 goals and 40 assists last season. If all goes well, he could meet or surpass his best season, 2010-11, where he collected 32 goals and 44 assists. Ironically, Kane joined Toews in scoring the two goals against the Red Wings. Both signed eight-year extensions during the summer with price tags of $10.5 million a year.
