Todd Bertuzzi's was given a court date of Sept 8, 2014 in a civil suit filed by Steve Moore which seeks $38-million (CAD) in damages. In the March 8, 2004 incident, Bertuzzi gave Moore a viscous sucker-punch to the head, ending Moore's playing career after suffering three broken vertebrae. The attack was in retaliation to Moore's questionable hit on Bertuzzi's teammate Markus Naslund earlier in the 2004 season. Bertuzzi was suspended for the remainder of the 2004 season and the playoffs. Moore filed a civil lawsuit in 2006 seeking damages for his lost career, and Bertuzzi will have to defend himself in a B.C. court.
