Thornton (shoulder) will be activated from injured reserve and confirmed he would play Saturday against the Rangers, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports. The veteran's left shoulder presented no issues during his morning skate session with his teammates, allowing him to draw back in after missing the previous four games. He'll skate alongside Patrick Marleau and Matthew Nieto on Saturday, but once rookie Melker Karlsson begins to slow down, look for Thornton to rejoin Joe Pavelski on the top line.
