Thornton (shoulder) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Blues, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Considered probable to play heading into the day, Thornton was unable to skate Saturday morning and quickly ruled out by coach Todd McLellan. It will spell an end to the iron man's streak of 319 consecutive games played, an attribute that made him one of the more trusty fantasy forwards despite a dive in his goal totals in recent seasons. It seems the Sharks are viewing Thornton day-to-day at this time, so there's hope that his absence will only span one game. Joe Pavelski is slated to center the top line in Thornton's absence, while Matt Nieto slides up to fill Pavelski's usual spot on the wing.
