Thornton pushed his point streak to 10 games with two assists -- the latter of which came on the power play and was the 1,300th point of his career -- in a 6-1 demolition of the Avalanche on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Jumbo Joe's far from washed up, that's for sure -- he's racked up 14 points while going plus-12 over the course of this streak, which is separated by just one scoreless effort from an eight-game streak in which he compiled another 11 points. Few players in the league have been filling up the ol' game log the way Thornton's been lately; on the one hand, it's a shame to see this stretch interrupted by the All-Star break, but on the other, at least it gives the 36-year-old center some rest, as he continues to play big-time minutes on the Sharks' top line, just as he has for almost the entirety of his decade-long tenure in San Jose.
