Thomas Holmstrom has been named the Detroit Red Wings nominee for the Bill Masterton trophy. The Masterton is given annually to recognize a player's perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication. "His perseverance is second to none," Nicklas Lidstrom said. "We know what he's been going through with his bad knees, and his knees weren't the best when he got here 15 years ago. So just the way he's battled through injuries and being able to come back and play, we know the beating he's been taking in front of the net in the offensive zone. He's got such much determination and the will to get back in there again. He's not giving up at all."
