These next few weeks could be a big opportunity for Joey MacDonald. With Jimmy Howard (finger) sidelined, Ty Conklin and Joey MacDonald are expected to battle for playing time. The one that leaves a better impression will likely end up entering the playoffs as Howard's understudy. MacDonald has spent most of the season in the AHL, but he replaced Conklin during Saturday's game and went onto stop 22 of 23 shots to allow Detroit to salvage a point. "He (MacDonald) did a good job obviously," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "He made some saves and we needed some saves at that point of the game." There's no word yet on who will start Monday, but don't be surprised if it's MacDonald.
