There was some confusion last night as to whether Jaromir Jagr's game-winning goal actually broke the NHL record.
As we reported, Jagr's 119th game-winning goal put him in sole possession of second place and just two shy of Gordie Howe. However, Jagr even posed for pictures with what was thought to be the record-breaking puck Tuesday night. Why? It was actually due to an error from the Boston Bruins when he was playing with them last season. Jagr netted his 118th game-winning goal with them last season and the Bruins started incorrectly reporting that Jagr had tied the record. When the Devils signed him, they started to report the same inaccurate information. The NHL website only has game-winning goals statistics dating back to 1967-68, so that's likely the cause of the mixup.
