The Sens placed Methot on IR on Monday, Steve Lloyd of TSN reports. Methot is dealing with a sore back, and will be sidelined for the team's season opener Thursday. He'll reclaim his spot alongside Erik Karlsson on the team's top pairing when he's ready, but Jared Cowen will take his place there for now.
