The Philadelphia Flyers might be wise to sign Matt Read to a contract extension. His deal expires after the 2013-14 season, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. He scored 24 points in 42 games in 2013 and managed 24 goals in 47 contests in 2011-12. If the Flyers go the "prove it" route, on the other hand, he could have quite the contract year.
