The New York Rangers have acquired Mike Vernace and a 2013 third round pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Wojtek Wolski. Vernace will turn 26 in May and has played in 22 career NHL games. He's not expected to ever have any fantasy value in standard leagues. That being said, given that the Rangers seemed to have little use for Wolski, this is a great move for them. The third round pick isn't insignificant nor is the fact that Wolski's $3,800,000 annual cap hit is off the books. That creates a bit more space for the Rangers if they decide to pull the trigger on a Rick Nash deal.
