The Los Angeles Kings and Dustin Penner are expected to meet in the next few days. Penner is due to become an unrestricted free agent in one week's time if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement before then. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that Penner would become a UFA at the end of the regular season as he had only seven goals and 17 points but a great playoff in which he potted three goals and 11 points in 20 games and played the style of play expected of him all season, gave him reason to hope that he could re-sign with the Kings.
