The goalie situation in Minnesota will take a little while to sort out and much will depend on doctors' reports and the salary cap. Niklas Backstrom, who had two recent surgeries (one to repair his core abdominal muscle and one to repair a hip), is under contract for two more years, and can't be released as he is an injured player. Josh Harding still has some obstacles to deal with as a result of his multiple sclerosis before he can be counted, Darcy Kuemper is a restricted free agent and Ilya Bryzgalov is a UFA. Minnesota GM Chuck Fletcher acknowledged that he didn't have a plan for the team's goaltending spots as two many balls are in the air. He did say the team may have to carry three netminders in 2014-15, though. Stay tuned for updates on this situation.
